A story of God’s Creation
For many of our brothers and sisters around the world, traditional farming practices, changing weather, and war prevent them from enjoying one of the most important provisions that we all need to survive.
When you support Tearfund Canada, you are helping people access what God has already made available. Whether it is introducing swamp rice farming in West Africa or conservation agriculture in the dry, arid climates of East Africa, new agricultural practices help poor smallholder farmers produce more food for their families – sometimes as much as 5x what they produced before receiving training from our church-based partners!
These kinds of results have caught the attention of the Canadian government. Through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, they have asked the Church to spread conservation agriculture even faster and train 50,000 farmers in East Africa by 2020! It is exciting for us to be part of seeing so many more people become secure by meeting their most basic need: food.
We believe God’s creation CAN support His children, and that no one should go hungry or be malnourished. With your support, the Church – in Canada and overseas – is bearing witness to the goodness of God.
When floods destroyed her crops in South Sudan, disabled mother Agot Garang feared for her children’s survival. Through Tearfund’s local church program, she received food supplies and farming support, restoring dignity, hope, and a future. Her story reflects the Gospel in action: faith expressed through tangible love and care.
In southern India, a landslide destroyed Usman’s home, livelihood, and community. Forced to start over, he had no tools to continue his carpentry work—until EFICOR provided him with a drilling machine and cutter. Now, nail by nail, Usman is rebuilding his life and providing for his family again.
