2-Week Trips

A typical discovery trip is
approximately 2 weeks.

First-Hand Experience

Learn first-hand about the importance of conservation agriculture, saving groups, and the impact of these programs on entire communities.

Participating in a Discovery Team provides you with the opportunity to witness first-hand the programs you support and understand how as a result of Tearfund’s projects, families and entire communities are being transformed.

Build Relationships

You’ll meet some of the people that have benefited from your support and will put a face to some of the names you have heard about. You’ll connect with local partners and pastors and share experiences with people from across the world.

How to Apply

Each trip consists of 6 to 8 people. This is to ensure quality personal interaction and learning experience. 

Fill out an Application

Take a look at our upcoming trips and submit a Discovery trip application form. 

Pre-departure Training

Once your application has been accepted you will be enrolled in pre-departure training. This includes several sessions covering a range of topics to prepare you for your trip. You will also need to submit a small deposit to confirm your spot during this time.

Off you Go!

You will join the rest of the team for an adventure of a lifetime! Upon return, you will have a quick debrief session to discuss what you’ve learned and next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Cost of each particular discovery trip varies but average a few thousand dollars. This cost includes airfare, accommodations, in-country food and transportation and visas.
In most of our countries, yes. Participants are required to obtain the necessary vaccinations for the trip.
Each discovery trip is unique but typically you can expect to meet and participate in devotionals with local churches, sit in and learn about Tearfund programming and enjoy meals with local people. Additionally, there usually are more recreational activities scheduled as well such as sight-seeing activities.
