New for 2025: "God Surprises!"
Poverty is real and devastating but God often works in surprising ways. Time and again, He uses ordinary people and local churches to bring extraordinary transformation. Where there is hunger, He provides abundance. Where there is despair, He brings hope. Through Tearfund’s Church and Community Transformation, God is surprising families and communities with new possibilities, helping them discover their God-given gifts, restore dignity, and build a brighter future. This Tearfund Sunday, we celebrate the amazing surprises of God’s love breaking the cycle of poverty.
Past Years
Alive
Poverty is not God’s plan. All around the world, poverty is increasing. In “Alive”, we learn that the church is the catalyst for change and the best way to end poverty. Through Church-based Community Transformation, Tearfund equips and mobilizes local churches in the poorest places.
Streams of Living Water
The climate is changing and is heightening water shortages, destroying the landscape and increasing chronic hunger in East Africa. In “Streams of Living Water”, learn how Tearfund works with local churches towards nature-positive solutions that restore landscapes and help families thrive.Â
Beyond Church Walls
Beyond Church walls means the Gospel isn’t just something we do on a Sunday morning, but all week! Although we tend to look inward, we are called to be blessings and God’s representatives on Earth.
Jubilee
Jubilee provides us with a reminder of God’s mission of redemption, restoration, and His sovereignty. We’re called to continue this spirit of Jubilee, to reflect God’s mission of restoration on Earth today.
Less is More
We live and work in a world that increasingly tells us to do more. While we should all try our best, Less is More describes how we must depend on Jesus. He is the source of rest and satisfaction.
Renew
Renew refers to having hope when our lives are unsure and fear creeps in. Our hope is rooted in God, who renews all and remains the same now and forever. This is especially relevant to those living in extreme poverty.
The Hunger Season
The Hunger Season is when people have no food, with some even reduced to eating leaves. As we are reminded of God’s compassion for the poor, we can serve those living in these challenging times.
