When civil war erupted in Sudan in 2023, Susan and her family sought refuge in neighbouring South Sudan. They now live in a refugee camp with thousands of others—with very little food, water or medicine. Last year, Susan’s eldest son, 7-years-old, died from Hemophilia A. She feels utterly hopeless that things will change.

Millions of people in South Sudan, DR Congo, and Ethiopia are facing catastrophic hunger crises that threaten their very survival.
- In South Sudan, 1 in 2 people face crisis-level hunger due to extreme flooding, drought, and displacement. Over 1 million Sudanese refugees have entered the country seeking refuge from the civil war in neighbouring Sudan.
- In DR Congo, rebel groups have wreaked havoc in the Eastern DRC, capturing the key city of Goma. Over 400,000 people have been displaced, food prices in the market have soared, and basic services are non-existent.
- In Ethiopia’s Tigray regsion the aftermath of the 2020-2022 civil war has left thousands dead and many more displaced. Today, many residents have returned to their homes and farms only to find them burned and destroyed.
Without immediate help, these families face starvation, continued displacement, and no means to rebuild their lives.
