South Sudan is facing a deepening hunger crisis. Nearly two-thirds of the population—9.9 million people—need urgent assistance, and the situation is only getting worse.
Right now, families are entering the “hunger season”—the time between planting and harvest when food runs out and options are limited. In some communities, many families are already skipping meals or surviving on very little.
Through local church partners, Tearfund is responding with emergency food assistance—helping families access essentials like sorghum, beans, oil, and salt during the most critical months.

How Tearfund is responding
Through local church partners, Tearfund is responding with emergency food assistance—helping families access essentials like sorghum, beans, oil, and salt during the most critical months.
Support is focused on those most at risk, including displaced families, refugees, and mothers and young children who are especially vulnerable to malnutrition. Alongside food, families are also receiving nutrition support and basic health services to help them stay strong during this time.
