Who are charities accountable to?
First and foremost, charities are accountable to the beneficiaries they serve.
They are responsible for delivering what they promised and for doing no harm in the process.
Charities are also accountable to donors. As the people who fund their projects, charities must ensure that they are getting the most value out of donor’s money and producing tangible results.
Charities must balance appropriately meeting the needs of the most vulnerable while maximizing the money they receive from donors.
