We are thrilled to have the ability to hire three new summer interns thanks to a generous funding grant. Passionate and ambitious, they will be a huge help to us as we seek to follow Jesus where the need is greatest and help lift people out of poverty. Read a little bit about them here.
Celeste Ceres – Digital Marketing & Church Team
“Hi! My name is Celeste and I’m a food enthusiast who is in my last year of studies in Marketing and Finance at Ryerson University. I took my love for food through the roof (quite literally!) by leading the communications efforts of Ryerson Urban Farm, a rooftop farm in the heart of downtown Toronto. I am also the Co-Founder of Sacraspice, a youth-led charity that facilitates intergenerational cooking workshops for middle school students. A lover of music, I also work with up and coming musicians as a photographer, videographer, and writer. I grew up as a pastor’s daughter, and the church I grew up in has maintained a pivotal role in shaping my walk with Jesus. I am very excited to work with the team at Tearfund to relentlessly demonstrate God’s love to those in need around the world.”
Emily Montesano – Writer and Story-teller
“My name is Emily and I’m an enthusiastic and compassionate graduate of Queen’s University, with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Global Development Studies (DEVS). My interest in transformation and development has stirred up a desire to see the lives of people transformed along intersections poverty and gender. I have a heart for worship, and use my love of music to lead in church. In my spare time, I can be found playing the piano or oboe, picking flowers and enjoying nature, or browsing markets, antique stores and thrift shops. My past experience in International Operations leaves me eager to expand my expertise in Storytelling through my role at Tearfund. As the Writer and Storyteller intern, I am excited to ensure that the Lord is praised, and His works are shared through stories of transformative impact.”
Stephanie Wong – Donor Relationships
“My name is Stephanie and I’m a recent graduate from the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Political Science, and Economics. I’m passionate about integrating innovative solutions with global development issues, and am excited to work as Tearfund’s Donor Relations Intern to take part in its mission of “following Jesus to help others where the need is greatest.” Having previously worked at the thriving tech start-up company ORii, and having directed numerous large events, I am eager to combine my creative and analytical skills to better serve God’s Kingdom and His people. Having an adventurous spirit, I am passionate to learn more about other cultures and countries through travelling whenever I can. In my spare time, you can find me discovering new cuisines, restaurants, and café nooks around Toronto with friends, as well as journaling, writing poetry, and video editing side projects.”
