What does it mean to take the mission of Jesus seriously? To live the gospel in every part of our lives as we strive to follow Christ?
Although poverty over the last few decades has more than halved, there is still extreme inequality in many parts of the world. Moreover, a changing climate and an increase in natural disasters is making their lives much more difficult. At Tearfund, we believe that Christians are called to radical response to poverty. One that includes a “whole-life” response.
In one of four Canadian cities next week, join other pastors and church leaders for a one-day seminar where you will hear from inspiring – world renowned – speakers and discuss what being missional means in a new light. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to engage in and discuss about this relevant topic.
Each event will run from 9:30am-3:30pm and will include breakout sessions, presentations and lunch.

We are pleased to announce our two fabulous guest speakers as Ruth Valerio and Bereket Tassew.
Dr. Ruth Valerio is the Global Advocacy and Influencing Director for Tearfund UK, aiming to equip Christians to a whole-life response to poverty. She has a Masters in Theology from the London School of Theology and did her PhD research on simplicity and consumerism- particularly looking at the relationship between Thomas Aquinas’ virtues of temperance and justice. She has written extensively on justice, environment and lifestyle issues and is passionate about seeing the Church engage in lasting change on the issues that impact the poorest and most vulnerable.
Bereket Tassew is the Executive Director of Terepeza Development Association (TDA), Tearfund Canada’s partner agency in Ethiopia. TDA is the development arm of Ethiopia’s largest Evangelical denomination – the Kale Heywot Church – literally meaning Word of Life Church. Bereket holds graduate degrees in Local Development Studies and Public Administration and is a passionate advocate and speaks regularly about the potential of transformed lives through Church-facilitated community development. He has great vision for Ethiopia and sees a day where people will live free from economic, spiritual, social and psychological poverty, injustice.
