Looking to better provide for herself and her family, Teresia Nkeki, a small business owner, farmer and mother of four, turned to her nearby VSL group. Lacking access to a formal bank and restricted by her current loan group model, Teresia found herself feeling financially stuck and unable to invest and grow the earnings from her small business.
That’s when she discovered one of the savings groups run by one of Tearfund’s local partners. Introduced to the Village Savings and Loans model by a friend participating in a group in a nearby village, Teresia was quick to see the benefits of the model. Without hesitation, she decided to join a newly formed group in her village and began to see her life change for the better.
“Finally, since I joined the Savings group my life has been gradually changed and I hope to achieve much as time goes by.”Teresia Nzeki
Teresia was overwhelmed by the opportunities her new savings group provided her. The loans have helped her pay her children’s school fees, expand her business, and buy three goats. When she was tight on money, a loan allowed her to afford maize and green bean seeds during the planting season to expand her farm to sustain herself and her family.
God provides for His children. The church VSL program has lifted Teresia out of financial hardships and has empowered her in her business, on her farm, and in her family.
