Earthquake and Tsunami on Island of Sulawesi
On Friday September 28, an earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia left a trail of death and devastation in the west part of Sulawesi Island. The death toll is at 1,300 deaths and authorities say that it may rise as rescue teams work through the rubble of destroyed buildings in more remote areas.
The tsunami warning system failed to communicate to the population of the impending danger as the tremor cut out the power in the region. Reports say that more than 1 million people are affected by this disaster. Amidst the rubble and destruction, people are struggling with desperation to feed their families. Survivors need food, water and basic supplies.
As Southeast Asia has been severely affected by yet another natural disaster, we ask that you pray with us for the people of Indonesia and respond to this crisis by giving a gift today.
