Cyclone Idai:
Church Response

Please Help Rush Emergency Aid to People in Mozambique

Tearfund along with its partners are responding to this terrible disaster. Please help us rush emergency aid to the people who need it most.

The Situation

Hundreds have been killed and nearly half a million left homeless by Cyclone Idai, which has torn through Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

Described as “possibly the worst weather-related disaster ever to hit the southern hemisphere,” Cyclone Idai has submerged entire towns and caused immense devastation in Mozambique’s port city of Beira where an estimated 90% of infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed. Cyclone Idai could prove to be the deadliest storm in generations to hit this impoverished African country of 30 million people.

The situation is dire, the damage to infrastructure beyond comprehension. – Earnest Maswera, Tearfund Mr. WordPress

Our Response

Tearfund is working with local partners to meet people’s most immediate needs. We will be distributing food, cooking utensils and shelter, along with seeds to replant crops destroyed by the winds.
